United Way of Hopewell-Prince George is pleased to announce the leaders of our annual campaign.
Leaders, volunteers and staff will kick off the campaign September 15th with a luncheon to be held at John
Randolph Foundation.
The Hopewell area will be led by Charles (Charlie) E. Dane, Assistant City Manager since 2014. He is a
native of Hopewell with over 34 years of experience in government, including areas of administration, budget, capital project management, building and grounds, fleet management, communications, waste and resource
recovery, print services and economic development.
Mr. Dane has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Liberty University and an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from St. Leo’s University. He and his wife Janet reside in the City of Hopewell.
Leading the Prince George area is Jim Gallagher, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones in Prince George County. He is a 1992 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a BA in human factors engineering and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Jim went on to attend undergraduate pilot training in Columbus, MS where he earned his pilot wings. He also earned a master’s degree in project management from the University of Maryland University College. He retired as a major after 21 years of distinguished service. He is an active member in the community, serving as an ambassador for the Hopewell Prince George Chamber of Commerce, member of the Hopewell Rotary Club, volunteer for United Way, and serves as adjutant for the American Legion Post 146. Originally from Bridgeport, CT, and after travelling the world with the Air Force, Jim and his wife, Deanna and three children settled in Virginia to be near family.
Stephen Henry, Plant Manager at Hopewell Cogeneration Facility will serve as Corporate Chairman and Dave Anderson, General Manager of WestRock-Hopewell Mill, will lead the Industrial Committee.
United Way of Hopewell-Prince George is grateful to have these caring and community minded volunteers leading our 2016 campaign. Our goal is $275,000 and we are counting on the business leaders, employees, and citizens to help us reach this important goal. Volunteers will be canvassing area businesses from mid September to December. Please give generously.
